AMERICA ONLINE LAUNCHES
LOS ANGELES MARATHON WEB SITE
ON DIGITAL CITY LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, CA. (January 2, 1997) New Year's Resolution 1996: To win the 12th running of the Los Angeles Marathon. Well, okay, to finish the marathon. No, okay-okay, to enter the marathon. All right, to think about entering the marathon. Hey, no, well, okay, to find a great seat at the marathon.

Whatever your goals for the New Year, there's one resolution that's easy to fulfill: to visit the exciting new official website of the 12th Los Angeles Marathon.

Located on America Online's Digital City Los Angeles [keyword LA Marathon or on the WWW at http://la.digitalcity.com/lamarathon], the site provides complete information for the estimated 20,000 competitors (and over 1,000,000 fans) expected at this year's race.

According to Rich Rygg, Digital City L.A.'s general manager, the new site "is the most complete one-stop source of information about the run."

Topics include descriptions of every aspect of the race from the opening ceremony to the victory celebration, including an illustrated map of the route highlighting prime viewing locations, a guide to the Bike Tour Event, Inline Skate, 5K Events and a training calendar by running coach Pat Connelly.

On-line entry forms for the marathon, bike tour, wheelchair race, in-line skate competition, and the 5K make participation in the event easier than ever before. "We can reach so many more people through the website and provide a lot more depth to the information on the race already available," said Dr. William A. Burke, L.A. Marathon president, expressing the organization's enthusiasm about its expansion into the virtual world.

The L.A. Marathon site is located on Digital City L.A., part of America Online's project to provide local communities with a mix of original regional programming and locally relevant information provider content.
