IAGENCY CELEBRATES SECOND ANNIVERSARY WITH NEW STAFF, CLIENTS, OFICES & WEB SITE SANTA MONICA, CALIF. (September 12, 1997) - InterActive Agency (http://www.iagency.com) has hired author and former Screen Actors Guild national director of communications Harry Medved as its new director of public relations, effective immediately. Among the entertainment clients he will oversee in his new post will be Warner Bros. Online, E-Ticket, and Star Telecom. Over the past three months, InterActive Agency has also added DirecTV, SegaSoft, Qualcomm and Symantec to the roster of clients for which it provides online marketing, public relations and advertising services. Now in its third year serving the online entertainment and technology communities, iAgency now boasts ten full-time staffers and a new home in the former Twentieth Century Fox production offices where Tom Hanks produced his directorial debut film "That Thing You Do." Medved comes to iAgency after a ten-year stint at the Screen Actors Guild, where he served as national director of communications and editor of guild publications. A graduate of the UCLA Film School and an avid multimedia buff, Medved left the Guild in 1996 to start up 100k Games, a joint venture formed with Digital Evolution to produce pop culture multi-player games for the Internet. "We're thrilled to include Harry among our team of online marketing professionals," says InterActive Agency president Tony Winders. "We know that his talent, contacts and dedication will help catapult InterActive Agency to even greater levels." Previous to his work in the entertainment and interactive fields, Medved co-wrote (with his brother, film critic Michael Medved) a series of humorous books about the motion picture industry's most dubious achievements including "The Fifty Worst Films of All Time," "The Golden Turkey Awards" and "The Hollywood Hall of Shame." With their pioneering works in the field of bad cinema, The Medved Brothers created a craze for films that are "so bad that they're good," and made famous (or infamous) "Plan Nine from Outer Space" and the entire oeuvre of Ed Wood (Golden Turkey Winner for Worst Director of All Time), "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and many other beloved baddies. The recent addition of Medved rounds out a full complement of department heads which includes Will Akerlof, director of advertising and Joe Jarrell, director of online marketing. Earlier this year, Will Akerlof joined InterActive Agency from Kalis & Savage Advertising in Pacific Palisades. He brings with him a wealth of advertising experience, gained while managing accounts like Alpine Car Stereos, City National Bank, Atari Corporation and McDonalds. Akerlof plans to make InterActive Agency the industry leader in developing creative and effective interactive advertising campaigns. Joe Jarrell, iAgency's director of online marketing, has a true multimedia background. He has worked in the music industry at Geffen Records, in research and music supervisor positions; on Barry Levinson and David Lynch television projects; on numerous feature and documentary films; and has exhibited his own painting and sculpture in galleries and museums across the United States and in Europe. As a marketing, public relations and Web consultant, Jarrell has developed content for multimedia companies and such major studios as Buena Vista, MGM/UA and Columbia TriStar. InterActive Agency has revamped its Web site at http://www.iagency.com to reflect the recent evolution of the company. In addition to information and pointers to its interactive entertainment and technology clients, the site invites visitors to join the iAgency Newswire and promotes live chat events and press conferences in the company's virtual offices, which are also accessible from the site. InterActive Agency, Inc. is a full-service, integrated marketing company that extends the programs of its entertainment and technology clients to the Web, increasing online awareness, traffic and sales with proven online promotion, public relations and advertising techniques. Current InterActive Agency clients include Warner Bros. Online, Miller Freeman, Inc., SegaSoft's HEAT.NET online gaming service, Qualcomm's Eudora Products Division, Symantec, DirecTV, E-Ticket and Countrywide Home Loans. |
