CONNECTS GAMERS AND DEVELOPERS SANTA CLARA, CALIF. (April 25, 1997) – Bringing the game community together, the Computer Game Developers' Conference Web site is the place for the hottest game industry news on the planet this weekend, with live on-site interviews with CGDC attendees and updates from the conference, a live RealAudio Webcast of the Spotlight Awards and a game developer Palace chat with the award winners as they come out from their acceptance speeches. The CGDC Web site will also refresh frequently, posting images and text on the winners as they are announced. The Spotlight Awards, recognizing outstanding creative or technical contributions in the field of interactive entertainment, will be held on Monday, April 28 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM Pacific Time. The Webcast of this event (http://www.cgdc.com/spotlightawards/live.htm) is co-sponsored by All Games Network, NetRadio Network, Hercules Technology and Miller Freeman, Inc. In a CGDC online promotion, major game sites All Games Network (http://www.allgames.com), GamePen (http://www.gamepen.com), GameCenter (http://www.gamecenter.com) and Happy Puppy (http://www.happypuppy.com) hosted pages inviting game lovers to cast their own votes for the best games of 1996. For everyone not able to attend the conference, Monday night's Webcast offers the chance to immediately determine if their selections are winners, and therefore eligible for prizes including suites of games. The grand prize, an all-expenses paid trip to a game developer's studio, will be announced in the days following the conference. In addition, a backstage chat with game developers, celebrities and publishers will take place live during the CGDC Spotlight Awards ceremony in the U.S. Robotics Towne Square 2000 Palace. Palace software is necessary for this event; the free demo version of The Palace software can be downloaded at The Palace home page (http://www.thepalace.com). The CGDC is owned and produced by Miller Freeman, Inc., in cooperation with the Computer Game Developers Association (CGDA). MFI is the world's largest producer of technical conferences and trade shows --including the Software Development Conference and the Web Design & Development Conference -- and is well known for its quality technical programs and networking events for developers of all types of software.
