In one of the first generations of interactive television, Rosie appeared on an AOL Live stage on her newly redesigned site on America Online (keyword: Rosie) and chatted with fans during commercial breaks in Monday's show which airs live in New York and other major markets. Rosie's appearance blew out the AOL record for daytime chat in little more than an hour as 4,500 people logged on to participate in the live event. One of the show's comedy writers surfed through more than 200 rows of chatrooms taking questions to feed to Rosie during commercials. The response to "Interactive Mondays" was so successful it will become a regular feature of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." Live polls, contests and exclusive "Interactive Monday" downloads will be added in the weeks ahead.

No stranger to cyberspace, Rosie set a record on AOL back in February 1997 when 16,800 simultaneous users logged onto her live chat event - the most ever for a live event surpassing Michael Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Silverstone and President Clinton.
