NBC AND WARNER BROS. ONLINE TO CO-PRODUCE
LIVE "ER" SEASON-PREMIERE CYBERCAST

BURBANK, CALIF - SEPT. 19, 1997 - NBC and Warner Bros. Online -- working together online for the first time -- will co-produce and jointly promote a live cyber-event and web site which will allow "ER" viewers and Internet users to take part in preparations for the unprecedented live season premiere of "ER" on Thursday, Sept. 25 (10-11 p.m. ET). The site's contents will include behind-the-scenes preparations, live chats and three-dimensional tours of show sets.

Promoted online and on-air as "www.ERLive.com" the web site http://www.ERLive.com will let fans take part in this historic broadcast via a complimentary Internet presence that will enhance viewer experiences.

A teaser version of the "ER" Live web site launched online on Thursday, September 18th, with a full roll-out on Monday, September 22, featuring chat and video areas where users can interact with each other and with the show's cast and crew as they prepare for the live event.

Through daily scheduled events, Warner Bros. Online and NBC will capture online the preparations leading up to the live broadcast on Thursday, September 25th, including the opportunity to watch the backstage action and to review daily news updates and articles chronicling the "ER" Live experience from the inside.

Production already has begun on the live season premiere episode of "ER," titled "Ambush," in which a documentary film crew spends a day in the ER recording the daily lives of the doctors, nurses and patients.

The ERLive.com web area, which will be accessible via NBC.com and WarnerBros.com, will include exclusive photos, video clips, one-on-one cast interviews, a 3D tour of the set, and information about the backstage workings of a live production. A reality-based design aims to match the energy and excitement of this award-winning drama and live broadcast.

Also to promote this unprecedented Web event, beginning on Tuesday, September 23, thousands of New York City pedestrians will learn about the "ER" Live web site and cybercast through the use of Astrovision, NBC's large-screen television in Times Square.

Using noted Internet chat provider Talk City, ERLive.com will feature moderated chat forums, auditorium events, and threaded bulletin board discussion groups. Throughout the week, Warner Bros. Online and NBC will announce auditorium chats, which could attract record-breaking audiences. Through Progressive Network's RealAudio and RealVideo technology, users with sophisticated equipment will be able to watch live streaming video originating from a camera placed strategically on the Warner Bros. studio lot.

In addition, Warner Bros. Online and NBC will use ERLive.com to "webcast" a countdown video event beginning 15 minutes before the actual 10 p.m. ET broadcast. Users will be able to simultaneously chat while watching exclusive streaming video feeds which will be repeated for users in other U.S. time zones. At 10 p.m., users will have the ability to continue the live experience by watching the live season premiere on television with the option for simultaneous online chat. After the episode, NBC and Warner Bros. Online will upload a digital gallery of special moments from the historic broadcast.

Online, Warner Bros. Online and NBC will create special promotional banners with advertising opportunities that will drive traffic to ER Live.com. During the week of September 22nd, the top pages of NBC.com will feature prominent promotions of the "ER" site. Warner Bros. Online will also drive traffic to the site through WarnerBros.com and the studio's "ER" area on America Online.
