FIND A HOME IN CYBERSPACE; FILM CLIPS GO ONLINE TODAY WITH HELP OF FASTV TECHNOLOGY LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (August 26, 1998) ---The American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Movies" project, which named the country's greatest movies on prime time TV last June, adds an exciting new element today with the launch of streaming-video clips for many of the films on the institute's Web site. These clips are "searchable," using FasTV's video search browser. Located at http://AFI.100movies.com, the site has allowed online users to review facts about the 100 films named by the AFI as well as the entire list of 400 that were nominated. Now several clips from many of the 100 greatest films are available in RealMedia's streaming-video format, a site enhancement made possible by support from Cambridge, MS. based FasTV (http://www.fastv.com). "AFI is pleased to extend a unique viewing opportunity for film enthusiasts to see some of America's classic movies in a convenient way. AFI is grateful to FasTV for enabling AFI to continue is leadership role in new technology, by offering the first movie site with searchable streaming-video clips of classic movies," said Jean Picker Firstenberg, Director and CEO of the AFI. AFI.100movies.com is where the "100 Years...100 Movies" campaign lives," said Nick DeMartino, Director, Strategic Planning for AFI. "The site is a place where a community is forming around these great movies. We are especially thankful for the studios and FasTV for their help coordinating efforts to enhance the site with streaming-video clips." The 100 Movies site changes daily with a new historical fact for each day in movie history. An online game commemorating the 100 Movies list will be launched in the weeks ahead. FasTV is revolutionizing the way people access and select video content over the Internet.
