CREATES CO-BRANDED SITE WITH THE INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE BURBANK, CALIF. (April 6, 1998) -- Warner Bros. Online (http://www.warnerbros.com) today announced the launch of the newest member of the Warner Bros. Online family: the Entertaindom Movie Database, powered by Internet Movie Database, located at http://entertaindom.imdb.com. This addictively entertaining co-branded site gives WB Online visitors immediate access to the most comprehensive film database available, while IMDb receives new sponsors, heightened awareness, and promotional and linking opportunities. Warner Bros. Online's Entertaindom Movie Database calls upon the IMDb's huge repository covering more than 130,000 movies with over 2,000,000 filmographies of Hollywood talent. The database captures any and all information associated with movies from across the world, starting with the earliest cinema, going through to the very latest releases and even movies still in production. In addition to filmographies and credits, the Entertaindom Movie Database includes awards information, movie reviews, box office grosses, movie trivia, quotes, goofs, soundtracks, special effects companies, reference literature, filming locations, sequel/remake information, advertising tag lines, alternative versions, laserdisc availability, links to fan pages, image and multimedia archives, direct purchase links for movies and associated merchandise. Entertaindom, the all-new Warner Bros. Online channel, offers the best in music, animation, games, film and television through its respective subsites, Rhythmdom, Toondom, Playdom and Screendom (where the Entertaindom Movie Database is now located). A major entertainment aggregator, Warner Bros. Online continues to distribute and co-brand third party sites such as Celebrity Sightings, Ultimate TV and Sports Celebrity Network through Entertaindom, in the same way major motion picture studios distribute independently produced movies from smaller companies. "Our goal has always been to become the one-stop entertainment destination online," says Jim Moloshok, senior vice president of Warner Bros. Online. "As Warner Bros. celebrates its 75th Anniversary, our Internet audience is reconnecting with our rich film heritage and passionately searching for behind-the-scenes information about our celebrated collection of classic and new movies. In addition, consumer interest in entertainment is at an all-time high level and the wide range of movie information in the Entertaindom Movie Database will give consumers the most useful and entertaining guidebook to film in the online world." The Internet Movie Database Ltd (IMDb) is the World Wide Web's largest movie reference site, with over 40 million page impressions each month. Warner Bros. Online's Entertaindom will use the Internet Movie Database to invite online users to find out everything fans could ever want to know about their favorite movies. Visitors who want to discover more details about a cast or crew member on any movie release can simply click on the hyperlink to the database, which is updated weekly. Originally created as a set of text-based FAQ lists for the newsgroup rec.arts.movies in 1990, the Internet Movie Database Ltd. (IMDb) is the largest source for movie and television information on the Internet. Launched on the Web in September of 1993, the IMDb became a commercial site in 1996 and has maintained its leadership as the largest movie reference site on the Internet since inception. Warner Bros. Online, a division of Time Warner Entertainment Company, is consistently in the top three of the most-trafficked studio sites on the Internet, according to both Media Metrix and RelevantKnowledge. In addition, Warner Bros. Online is the number two site on the whole World Wide Web in concentration of Women 18-49, the demographic audience most desired by advertisers. The company's focus is on producing entertainment programming for the Internet and commercial online services, with sites accessible through the World Wide Web at http://www.warnerbros.com. |
