THE #1 ENTERTAINMENT SITE ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB BURBANK, CALIF (June 15, 1998) - Warner Bros. Online completed May as the #1 studio on the Web, topping Disney.com and Sony Online according to the Relevant Knowledge rating service. This is the first time in over a year that Warner Bros. Online passed not just Sony Online, but also Disney.com in the monthly rankings. In May, Warner Bros. Online attracted 3,241,000 unique users to its site, setting a new high figure for the studio. To accomplish this goal, Warner Bros. Online grew over twice as fast as any other of the top ten general entertainment site tracked by Relevant Knowledge with +44% monthly growth in May vs. April. Warner Bros. Online was also the second fastest growing among the top 30 general news and entertainment sites (second only to the LA Times, +73% from only 473,000 users to 817,000 users). Additionally, WB Online ranked a clear number one among Hollywood studios, outreaching its nearest competitor, Sony Online, by over 400,000 users, and Disney.com by roughly 800,000 users. Warner Bros. Online also nearly doubled the reach of its television network competition, which includes, NBC Interactive, CBS and ABC.com. Jim Moloshok, Senior Vice President of Warner Bros. Online, attributed the high ranking to a combination of its carriage strategy on the Web, plus its aggressive expansion of community-based content related to such highly-rated programming as "Friends," "Seinfeld," "Dawson's Creek" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." To assure traffic to its original and brand-extension entertainment- related content, Warner Bros. Online has locked-in long-term linkage from such important Internet portals as AOL, Microsoft, Lycos, Tripod, Real Networks, WebTV and other leading Internet companies. Among the highly attractive persons 18-34 demo, WB Online ranked 23rd overall on the Web, seventh among general entertainment and news companies, and first among major studios. WB Online reached 1,666,000 users in the demo, vs. 1,264,000 for Sony Online and 1,141,000 for Disney.com Among females, 18-34, WB Online ranked 17th overall on the Web, fourth among general entertainment and news companies, and major studios. WB Online reached 809,000 users in the demo vs. 573,000 users for Disney.com and 477,000 for Sony Online. Warner Bros.
