FOR VIRTUAL WORLD SERVICES SAN JOSE, Calif., July 13, 1998 - Fujitsu's WorldsAway division, the leader in virtual world community development and implementation, has dramatically changed the cost structure for accessing its popular virtual worlds, including Dreamscape, Hotel Silicon, and a soon-to-be-announced virtual world with corporate partners. The new pricing strategy addresses the growing popularity of these virtual worlds by offering members a single monthly price for unlimited usage. Until now, WorldsAway has priced its online access by the hour, with some rates going as high as $1.95 per hour. The new pricing strategy offers unlimited access to the leading virtual world Dreamscape for just $19.95 per month. The newer virtual worlds are priced at $9.95 per month for unlimited access. For many members, this new pricing will reduce access costs from hundreds of dollars each month to less than $20. For other members, the new pricing strategy will help increase average daily usage by removing the cost barrier. "We believe that flat-rate pricing will provide our existing members with unmatched value and encourage hundreds of thousands of new members to try the worlds for the first time," said David Andrews, vice president of WorldsAway Products and Services Business Units. "Most people in our industry would be surprised to learn that our virtual world members spend an average of 58 minutes online per day, which compares very favorably with America Online"s average of 46 minutes. This flat rate pricing strategy will help boost our average daily usage even further, making WorldsAway virtual worlds some of the most compelling spaces on the Internet for sponsors and advertisers."
