MAC VERSION OF ITS LEADING META-SEARCH TOOL, COPERNIC 99, WITH MAC ORIENTED INFORMATION SOURCES & CHANCE TO WIN $1,000 QUEBEC, Canada (August 19, 1999) - Copernic Technologies Inc. (copernic.com), developers of innovative search agent technologies and solutions, announced the introduction of a Macintosh version of Copernic 99, its award-winning desktop search tool. Copernic 99 for Macintosh (v2.0), is available for free from the Copernic Web site (copernic.com), while the Plus version is priced at $29.95. Searching the Internet with either version is faster, easier, and more efficient than ever for Mac users. "Overwhelming interest from Mac users showed us there was a need to offer our technology to the flourishing Macintosh community," said Martin Bouchard, president of Copernic Technologies Inc. "Copernic has become the reference standard among desktop search tools in the PC world, and we feel the time is right to present it to the Mac world. The demand from the market for a Mac version has been continually growing since the iMac launching. iMac was chosen as the 'Best New Platform' by the Internet Providers Association at the 1999 Internet Awards, and about 2 million iMacs have been sold so far, according to PC Data. We intend on providing this growing Mac population the most advanced search tool available on Mac OS." Copernic 99 allows users to find what they are looking for by simultaneously consulting the best Internet search engines. This free version for the Mac includes the following search categories: The Web, Newsgroups, E-mail Addresses, Buy Books, and a new search category, Mac News, targeting Macintosh related news sites. Mac News includes the following search engines: MacAddict, MacCentral, MacNN, MacTopia, and TidBITS. The Plus version includes the same categories as its Windows equivalent with the addition of Mac News and Mac Downloads. Mac News allows searching for Macintosh related news, while Mac Downloads combs through specialized Macintosh download sites. Mac Downloads includes the following search engines: Download.com, Shareware.com, FileMine, MacDownload, TUCOWS, and VersionTracker. Early in October, Copernic Technologies will launch a new search category, called Mac Shopping, in time to relieve the Holiday shopping frenzy. Mac Shopping will search for Macintosh software and hardware in sites such as MacBuy.com. Copernic 99 Plus uses predetermined categories, allowing targeted inquiries in over 138 major search engines grouped in more than 20 categories such as The Web, Newsgroups, E-mail Addresses, Health, Finance, Games, Kids, Movies, Music, MP3 Files, Recipes, Sciences, Sports News, and Travel. For example, The Web provides simultaneous access to AltaVista, Deja.com, Excite, HotBot, Infoseek, Google, Lycos, SNAP, MSN and Yahoo!, while MP3 Files mines through 1mp3, 2look4, Audiofind, Audiogalaxy, Lycos FAST MP3 Search, Mediafind and Oth.Net.
